Idea #2 Pots

I have such great helpers! I'm new to this whole blog thing....and dangit....I can't figure out how to arrange my picts like I want....UUGGHH! I saw this idea about 12 years ago and filed it away in my brain....I finally remembered to do it this year! It's such a great teacher gift! My 7 year old helped paint the yellow strip....he did a great job! We made 10 of these for all my kids' teachers and the principal, music teacher, Reading specialist, etc! DIRECTIONS: 8 in clay pot, paint yellow strip, make ruler marks w/ a sharpie, hotglue crayons(straight across or staggered), add a bow and an inexpensive plant....DONE! I did NOT pot the plant, I just sat it in there....they can pot it OR use the pot in their room for storage!

Pots, Pots, and more Pots

Idea #1:
This is the cutest idea---at least I think so.....and the kids can do it!!!! My 6 year old daughter did the polka dots w/ a circle sponge ....all by herself!! (I really didn't help her....and I LET HER DO IT!!!)

Add a little bow and....whaaaa--la! Super cute! Better yet, add a flower and it's a super cute, handmade teacher gift--or in our case....school secretary's gifts--we made 2!

Directions: paint pot white, add polka dots, hot glue ribbon and bow....DONE! So easy!

40 Teacher Signs

We love our teacher's at McGaughey! They are awesome! This was our "Big Surprise" for Teacher Appreciation week! We put them in their rooms Wednesday morning....they were so surprised and they LOVED them....probably not as much as we LOVED making them! Yes, they are all different!

Cake Balls, Yummy, Yummy!

Gotta love me some cake balls!!! Sara and I made these for the teachers at school! They were so cute...and yummy!

Here's the recipe...bake a cake out of the box--follow directions on box....let cool....then demolish it and add a tub of icing....mix....refridge....make balls...freeze....dip in white or milk choc almond bark....sooo easy....sooo cute, soooo good!

We made lemon cake, lemon icing dipped in white choc
strawberry cake, strawberry icing dipped in white choc
choc cake, choc icing, dipped in milk choc
white cake, white icing, dipped in white choc

We added a little food coloring and drizzled on top to distinguish the different flavors and add a little Fancy Nancy! Did I mention how cute!

You can also make oreo balls--just add a block of cream cheese instead of icing....and dip in white choc...these are awesome, but you have to refridgerate. And you can do nutter butters....oooo...haven't tried them, but I LOVE NUTTER BUTTER's and I think they would be good in just about anything....add block of cream cheese and dip in milk choc! YUMMMMMM!!

We are so not the cake ball goo roos...but Bakerella is http://bakerella.blogspot.com/ She's amazing! So don't compare us....we can only hope to be as awesome and creative with our cake balls!

Rockome Garden

Rockome Garden in Arcola, IL....Today was possibly the worst field trip EVER.....it rained, it was muddy, I was super tired from all the Teacher Appreciation stuff I've been doing! But, Rockome Garden is pretty neat. I remember going there when I was little. They have Amish bread and baked goods there. They had a potter making pottery (which was Kaden's favorite thing), horses turning a buzz saw, blacksmith, broom making, petting zoo, etc. The kids got to see how people used to live! They had fun....but the adults....I think we were all ready to go 15 minutes after we got there....due to the weather, not the attration!

Easter project

We decided to paint our "workshop" over Easter weekend! Our workshop is in the back of my husband's dental office. He just moved into a 10,000 square foot space, but we only built out 5600 sq ft, so guess what??? Lil' Bow Peeps gets the rest! So it's truely WHO you know! The green space is the "stage" that will be for the kids! Notice the lovely vinyl tiles above Marc's (Jody's husband) head...the space used to be a flooring store and these were the tile samples....eeewww! Any ideas on what to do?? They are impossible to remove without killing ourselves and ruining the sheet rock. So, my idea is to get the peel & stick tiles in pink and green and put over those...or prime it and paint something over it! It's definately a work in progress....stay tuned!

Teacher Appreciation 2

Here's 38 reasons it's taken me a month to update my blog you have to look at Sara's blog to see them....http://www.whimsies-whatnots.blogspot.com/ we made canvas' for every teacher in our building! They LOVED them! They were so fun to do...lots of fun and creative color combos!! Hope you enjoy looking as much as we enjoyed creating!

Teacher Appreciation Week

So we are doing something every day for our teachers! Monday we had a luncheon! We made chicken salad, broccoli and cauliflower salad, and fruit salad. Every teacher had their own bag w/ everything inside. It was a hit! It was a big undertaking--we fed 60 people! Very little clean up, which is always a plus!

Boston Marathon

Well folks, been a little busy and I'm finally updating my blog....soooo sorry! I'm a newbee! My husband, Kelly ran the Boston Marathon and we had a BLAST! We went to a Celtics vs. Bulls play off game...and I bleached Kelly's hair with a cheap bleach kit from Walgreens--he always does something funky for marathon's so he's easy to spot! We ate lobster...YUMMMYYY!!! Went on a DUCK tour (land/water vehicle), and had a great time! Kelly ran the marathon ....very exciting accomplishment...it was his 8th marathon!!
