My little fishies

I LOVE my new Nikon D5000 camera...it' takes great pix! Here's 2 of my little fishies. Kameron is 4 and learned to swim very early...he's been going off the boards since he was 2... he wasn't potty trained, but he could swim!
LOVE, Love, Love my camera!
Oh, and Kam learned to ride a 2 wheel bike, Kolby taught him yesterday....I have video and have to figure out how to put it on here!
I'm trying to blog more often than once a month!

Planning ahead

This became part of our family today....it's a project car for Kolby.....hhhmmmmm....not sure where the men in my life are going to find time to work on their car, but it's ours now nonetheless! I guess I have to look past the peeling paint and rust and see the potential.....my husband is giddy and smiley about the car....and he doesn't get excited about much.....so...this weekend...I got a new fun camera and he got a project car....and our son won their baseball championship....lots of excitment here let me tell you!!!!!

MTZ Mustang Farm Champs

So, my son's baseball team won their Championship game today...very exciting....so fun! And....I got a new Nikon camera last night and got to experiment with it today....which was really fun! Ok, so this isn't the best pict of my son, but ....you get the idea! I'm so not a professional photographer....and this is my first SLR camera EVER, so I have a lot to learn!

Hair: woven piggy knots

AHHH....once again, so sorry for the poor quality of pict....I'm without a camera!

Hair: Twist Crown

So, Yeah....totally getting addicted to the whole hair thing! Love doing cute "do's" for Ashlyn!!!
I actually sat at the ball field and did a little girl's hair tonight at Kolby's ballgame! It's fun trying to come up w/ new and creative "do's"! And, yeah....she sleeps in them I add a little more water and goo---and she wears them for MORE THAN ONE DAY!!! I did this Sat, and I refurbished it and she wore it to church Sunday too!!

Whaalllaa! My new bathroom Walls!!

It took about 1 hour...THAT'S IT! And, these picts don't even almost do it justice...so much better in person! It's so warm and model home-ish! It WAS very sterile and blah......I put a rubber glove on, then a jersey cotton glove over that was all of $1.50 and mixed 1 part Truffle paint to 3 parts glaze and I dipped my glove in the paint and rubbed on the glaze....it was the fastest and easiest paint project ever! Now I have to run out to Hobby Lobby tomorrow and get a shelf and a couple of picts!

Quickest Bathroom Make-over EVER!! Before Picts

So, my camera died at the St. Louis Zoo--it sat in my bag in some liquid that spilled...still not sure what it was! Then my phone died too....so, I'm having to rely on my mom's camera--which isn't the most recent camera w/ the 1" viewer...all of that to say--sorry for the quality of picts....I couldn't tell they were that bad when I took them....but we moved in 5 years ago and our 1/2 bath had a cool wrinkly tissue paper technique on the walls, but it look horribly boring and bland...so, I have been wanting to glaze over them...so, Mom and I did it today! She's visiting for 3 weeks and this was a project I wanted to complete during her visit!

As Rare as a $2

So I came downstairs and this is what I found.....WOW...this gives me hope that they may be close and love each other when they grow up....and they may even like each other....no, really! This NEVER happens....Kaden doesn't like anyone close...especially his sister! They were all cuddled up on the couch watching cartoons....gotta love Kameron's lovely bed head!

Kam's Orange Baseball Fun

Kam is so sad that he can't play ball...but he was sure having fun w/ oranges at Kaden's game.....he was very creative.....that's what we call it, right? So we have 3-4 baseball games a week...and I gave the kids the lecture that they were not going to get something at the concession stand every time we are at a game....we could spend $20/ night if we let them...so I packed me a baseball bag full of wipes, bug spray, spoons, capri sun's, fruit cups, oranges---b/c kameron eats them like candy, and I went to Rural King and bought big bags of candy, and off we go!! So....I guess he was bored watching Kaden's game! Oh, at our games...the kids get paid to play....they each get $1 after they play...to go spend at the concession stand....so, 3 of the 4 get something a week there.....and we fold and get Kam something too...so, they aren't doing without!!

Baseball fun-Kaden

OK, so I'm so not a self proclaimed photographer...or even close....and apparently I'm too lazy to get my butt up and get a picture that's not through the fence...oh well....so, here's Kaden batting...and catching...that's right folks...catching....Kaden catching??? It was hilarious....he's so not into extra voluntary exertion....he didn't get up 'til the batter had reached first!! Kelly kept telling him he had to get up each time! He would get the bat out of the way of the runner's though! We asked him if he liked it...he said, NO! NO SURPRISE there! It was hilarious! He never complained though! WAY TO GO KADEN!

A Twist on Piggy Knots

Loved this....she loved it too!
Shoot, I forgot to take a pict of her Sunday do....it was the twist (like the one here)...didn't do the back one....then pulled it all into a side pony messy bun...added a flower...she looked like a tropical princess!!

Hair do attempt 2

ok....I think this is almost easier than a french braid....you do it w/ 2 instead of 3 and you do NOT take from each side you take all the way across each time....does that make sense...you twist each strand toward her face....take the bottom one and put it on top.....and twist as you go.. adding to the bottom twist each time!..I love the twist french braid!

Hair-Do's

Like I said before, I'm new to the whole blogging thing....who would have thought that they would have HAIR blogs for little girls hair-do's.....I LOVE DOING HAIR!! I did my hair for my wedding, as well as several of the girls hair in my wedding....I've done hair and make up for weddings....I love doing my daughter's hair for her dance recitals....I love these new do's I tried....so here's my first attempt! It's so easy!

Idea #2 Pots

I have such great helpers! I'm new to this whole blog thing....and dangit....I can't figure out how to arrange my picts like I want....UUGGHH! I saw this idea about 12 years ago and filed it away in my brain....I finally remembered to do it this year! It's such a great teacher gift! My 7 year old helped paint the yellow strip....he did a great job! We made 10 of these for all my kids' teachers and the principal, music teacher, Reading specialist, etc! DIRECTIONS: 8 in clay pot, paint yellow strip, make ruler marks w/ a sharpie, hotglue crayons(straight across or staggered), add a bow and an inexpensive plant....DONE! I did NOT pot the plant, I just sat it in there....they can pot it OR use the pot in their room for storage!

Pots, Pots, and more Pots

Idea #1:
This is the cutest idea---at least I think so.....and the kids can do it!!!! My 6 year old daughter did the polka dots w/ a circle sponge ....all by herself!! (I really didn't help her....and I LET HER DO IT!!!)

Add a little bow and....whaaaa--la! Super cute! Better yet, add a flower and it's a super cute, handmade teacher gift--or in our case....school secretary's gifts--we made 2!

Directions: paint pot white, add polka dots, hot glue ribbon and bow....DONE! So easy!

40 Teacher Signs

We love our teacher's at McGaughey! They are awesome! This was our "Big Surprise" for Teacher Appreciation week! We put them in their rooms Wednesday morning....they were so surprised and they LOVED them....probably not as much as we LOVED making them! Yes, they are all different!

Cake Balls, Yummy, Yummy!

Gotta love me some cake balls!!! Sara and I made these for the teachers at school! They were so cute...and yummy!

Here's the recipe...bake a cake out of the box--follow directions on box....let cool....then demolish it and add a tub of icing....mix....refridge....make balls...freeze....dip in white or milk choc almond bark....sooo easy....sooo cute, soooo good!

We made lemon cake, lemon icing dipped in white choc
strawberry cake, strawberry icing dipped in white choc
choc cake, choc icing, dipped in milk choc
white cake, white icing, dipped in white choc

We added a little food coloring and drizzled on top to distinguish the different flavors and add a little Fancy Nancy! Did I mention how cute!

You can also make oreo balls--just add a block of cream cheese instead of icing....and dip in white choc...these are awesome, but you have to refridgerate. And you can do nutter butters....oooo...haven't tried them, but I LOVE NUTTER BUTTER's and I think they would be good in just about anything....add block of cream cheese and dip in milk choc! YUMMMMMM!!

We are so not the cake ball goo roos...but Bakerella is http://bakerella.blogspot.com/ She's amazing! So don't compare us....we can only hope to be as awesome and creative with our cake balls!

Rockome Garden

Rockome Garden in Arcola, IL....Today was possibly the worst field trip EVER.....it rained, it was muddy, I was super tired from all the Teacher Appreciation stuff I've been doing! But, Rockome Garden is pretty neat. I remember going there when I was little. They have Amish bread and baked goods there. They had a potter making pottery (which was Kaden's favorite thing), horses turning a buzz saw, blacksmith, broom making, petting zoo, etc. The kids got to see how people used to live! They had fun....but the adults....I think we were all ready to go 15 minutes after we got there....due to the weather, not the attration!
